Blog: Children's Liturgy of the Word
Peter proceeded to speak to those gathered
in the house of Cornelius, saying:
“In truth, I see that God shows no partiality.
Rather, in every nation whoever fears him and acts uprightly
is acceptable to him.
You know the word that he sent to the Israelites
as he proclaimed peace through Jesus Christ, who is Lord of all,
what has happened all over Judea,
beginning in Galilee after the baptism
that John preached,
how God anointed Jesus of Nazareth
with the Holy Spirit and power.
He went about doing good
and healing all those oppressed by the devil,
for God was with him.” Acts 10:34-38
Brothers and Sisters:
You have heard of the stewardship of God's grace that
was given to me for your benefit,
namely, that the mystery was made known to me by revelation.
It was not made known to people in other generations as it has now
been revealed to his holy apostles and prophets by the Spirit:
that the Gentiles are co-heirs, members of the same body,
and co-partners in the promise in Christ Jesus through
the Gospel. Ephesians 3:2-3a, 5-6
"Behold, the virgin shall conceive and bear a son,
and they sahll name him Emmanuel, which means, 'God is with us.''
“Rejoice in the Lord always. I shall say it again: rejoice!
Your kindness should be known to all.
The Lord is near. Have no anxiety at all, but in everything,
by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving,
make your requests known to God. Then the peace of God
that surpasses all understanding will guard your hearts and
minds in Christ Jesus.” Phil 4:4-7
John went throughout the whole region of the Jordan,
proclaiming a baptism of repentance for the forgiveness of sins,
as it is written in the book of the words of the prophet Isaiah:
A voice of one crying out in the desert:
"Prepare the way of the Lord,
make straight his paths.
Every valley shall be filled
and every mountain and hill shall be made low.
The winding roads shall be made straight,
and the rough ways made smooth,
and all flesh shall see the salvation of God."
Brothers and sisters:
May the Lord make you increase and abound in love
for one another and for all,
just as we have for you,
so as to strengthen your hearts,
to be blameless in holiness before our God and Father
at the coming of our Lord Jesus with all his holy ones. Amen. 1 Thes. 3:12-13
Jesus Christ if the faithful witness, the firstborn of the dead and ruler of the kings of the earth.
To him who loves us and has freed us from our sins by his blood, who has made us into a kingdom,
priests for his God and Father, to him be glory and power forever and ever. Amen Revelation 1:5-6
In the same way, when you see these things happening,
know that he is near, at the gates.
Amen, I say to you,
this generation will not pass away
until all these things have taken place.
Heaven and earth will pass away,
but my words will not pass away.
"But of that day or hour, no one knows,
neither the angels in heaven, nor the Son, but only the Father."
We must live by the obedience of faith, a faith that shows itself in works of charity and self-giving (Galatians 5:6).
"The first is this: Hear, O Israel! You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart,
with all your soul, with all your mind, and with all your strength.
The second is this: You shall love your neighbor as youself."
